LA28 unveils schedule for largest Paralympic Games ever

The schedule of the 2028 Summer Paralympics has been released for every event from May 27. The calendar sorts the events by sport, venue, venue, date and time and session type, but may change closer to the competition. The games begin on August 15 at SoFi Stadium and run until the closing ceremony on August 27 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Although 2028 will be the third time Los Angeles has hosted the Olympic Games, this will be the first time Los Angeles has hosted the Paralympic Games. With more than 560 events and 23 sports, these Paralympic Games will be the largest ever, with the most medal events since 1988.
“We have the opportunity to break barriers and redefine what the Paralympic Movement and disability representation can do for the next generation,” said Ileana Rodriguez, LA28 vice president of Paralympic strategy and relations.
Los Angeles will use venues across the county, including the LA Convention Center Hall in DTLA, Alamitos Beach Stadium in Long Beach and Carson Field in Carson. The competition includes the most medal events since 1988 with boccia, para judo, para archery, para taekwondo, wheelchair fencing, goalball and others.
These Paralympic Games bring changes to the new summer competition. For the first time, the Los Angeles Paralympic Games will start before the opening ceremony, starting with wheelchair rugby and boccia sporting events two days before Day 0 on August 15.
In addition, LA28 announced that it will feature a sports debut for para-climbing. This new event will see 80 athletes compete in four medal events with 10 athletes per race. In addition, a new women’s event has been added to para table tennis and paratriathlon.
