Emily Bauer named Saint Mary’s head hockey coach
WINONA, Minn. – Emily Bauer has been named the new head women’s hockey coach at Saint Mary’s University, as announced by Saint Mary’s athletic director Brian Sisson.
“We are excited to welcome Emily to the Cardinal family and advance our women’s hockey program,” said Sisson. “She stands out as one of the rising female coaches in the sport and is familiar with the region, having played and coached at this level. She will be a great asset to our program.”
The Wausau, Wis., native joins the staff after serving as the head assistant coach at Lawrence University for the past two seasons. In that role, she played an integral role in recruiting, scheduling, player development and practice planning.
Bauer arrives at Saint Mary’s with five years of coaching experience, as she was head coach of a premier 19U hockey team, Wisconsin Selects, where she led the team to two national tournaments, the 2021 national runner-up, two state championships and two Central District championships. Remarkably, she led that program to a national title in 2024.

Bauer is also no stranger to collegiate hockey in the Upper Midwest. She was a four-year student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she earned her degree in business administration while helping the Blugolds to some of the most successful seasons in program history. During her collegiate career, UW-Eau Claire captured two conference postseason tournament championships and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Now joining one of the premier conferences in Division III hockey, Bauer is eager to continue the tradition and momentum of the Cardinals program.

Bauer will officially begin her duties as head coach on June 8.
