Table Tennis England is working with CIMSPA to strengthen the coaching process
Table Tennis England has taken a major step forward in coach development after announcing a new partnership with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
The partnership will see CIMSPA become the professional approval body for Table Tennis England’s coaching qualifications and wider workforce development programme, raising standards and strengthening recognition in the sport.
By aligning its learning and development offering with nationally recognized professional standards, Table Tennis England aims to ensure that coaches at all levels benefit from high-quality training and clear progression opportunities.
As a first milestone in the partnership, the Coaching Assistant Qualification has already received full professional approval from CIMSPA.
This recognition confirms that the qualification meets the required professional standards and provides a strong starting point for those embarking on their coaching journey, supporting the delivery of sessions across the game.
Work is already underway to gain approval for both the Coach and Head Coach qualifications, creating a clear and structured pathway for coaches to develop their skills and progress in the sport.
In addition to the qualification approval, Table Tennis England will align its Continuing Professional Development program with CIMSPA standards.
This will give coaches greater access to recognized learning opportunities, while at the same time keeping them informed, maintaining their professional competence and continuing to improve throughout their careers.
