Johnson rejoins the men’s hockey staff as the new director of hockey operations
After a one-year absence, Caleb Johnson has returned to the University of Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey staff as the program’s new Director of Hockey Operations.
Johnson takes over the reins from Christian Koelling, former Director of Hockey Operations at Bulldog. From 2021-2025, Johnson worked with Koelling as a UMD Hockey Operations Assistant.
Last season, Johnson served as assistant coach/director of hockey operations at Long Island University in Brookville, New York.
“I am incredibly excited to return to UMD and join the Bulldog family in this new role,” said Johnson. “I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to getting started and contributing to the continued success of the program.”
Johnson also served as the Bulldog Hockey Camp Assistant Camp Director for five years from 2020-25, and three seasons with USA Hockey from 2021-24 as part of the Coach Developer Team.
In May 2024, Johnson received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from UMD with a minor in Marketing.
Johnson officially began his duties with the Bulldogs on July 5.
