Video game giant Nintendo announced plans on Friday to open a store in San Francisco, its second in the United States after opening one in New York.

The Nintendo San Francisco store will open in San Francisco's Union Square in 2025 and “offer a wide range of visitors from near and far the opportunity to experience the Nintendo world, its products and characters,” a Nintendo representative said in announcing the opening.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed said on social media, “This is great news for Union Square and fans around the world! We're excited about the future of San Francisco and look forward to welcoming this iconic brand to our city.”

Nintendo of America said more details will be announced closer to the San Francisco store's opening.

The New York store at Rockefeller Center has 10,000 square feet of floor space across two floors where people can play video games, shop, and purchase other accessories, apparel, and gaming items. Nintendo has three other stores overseas, all in the company's home country of Japan, in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.
