A 3.26-magnitude earthquake was reported near Mills, Utah — about 60 miles south of Provo — early Friday morning. The University of Utah seismic stations recorded the moments of the slight earthquake just before 5:30 a.m.

According to the UUSS ShakeMap, shown below, those who live in the earthquake zone may have felt awakened by the mild shaking.

According to the US Geological Survey, those who live in Gunnison, Ephraim, Nephi and even Millard and Fillmore may have felt some shaking from the earthquake.

This is one of the largest earthquakes reported in Utah in the past two weeks. On Wednesday, the UUSS reported a 3.4-magnitude earthquake near the Utah-Idaho border. This earthquake came just 13 minutes after a magnitude of 2.9 was reported in the same area.

Experts warned that Utah may be due to a major earthquake event, especially affecting the Wasatch Front. This could pose a significant threat to older buildings and homes throughout Salt Lake City, which experts say are most at risk of an earthquake.
