Coronavirus: Worst death rate in London’s poorest borough – BBC News

Some of the worst affected in the UK are suffering the worst effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The city of Newham in east London has recorded the worst mortality rate in England and Wales, according to official data.

Meanwhile, the African continent has had to endure infections and deaths seen elsewhere in the world. Recent figures show less than 3,000 deaths across Africa from coronavirus.

Although many deaths were not reported and the numbers could rise, it has been suggested that much can be learned about the way African countries prepared for the virus.
