Salman Abedi: “Public anti-terrorism telephone lines talk about suicide bombers” – BBC News

A Muslim community worker told BBC News that the public had called the anti-police terrorism telephone number to warn of extremist and violent views of the Manchester suicide bombing. The BBC also understands that Abedi was in Manchester earlier this year when he told people the value of dying for a cause and made harsh statements about suicide operations and the Libyan conflict. A community worker – who did not want to be identified – said two people he knew at Salman Abedi at the university had made separate calls to police. They were concerned that he was “in favor of terrorism” and thought it was “okay to have a suicide”. Friends argued with him, saying he was wrong, but he contacted the police because he was so worried. A community worker told the BBC that “all the publicity is about Muslims not coming, which shows that they are moving forward and expressing their concerns.” The calls are believed to have been made about five years ago after Abedi left school, where he was found to have burned marijuana and mixed it with groups in south Manchester.
