Rumble in Broome: Magnitude 2.8 earthquake strikes Birmingham | News

After a series of storms – one called Dudley – the last thing West Midlands residents needed was an earthquake.

Families across a 12-mile radius reported being awakened by shaking and roaring last night when a 2.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Walsall.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) said the earthquake was recorded at a depth of just over four miles at 10.59pm. The earthquakes were felt in Birmingham, Dudley and Wolverhampton.

Some of those affected told BGS that the earthquake shook their homes. “It was like a wardrobe that fell or an explosion in the window,” one said.

There are no reports of any injuries or damages.
