An earthquake in the Aegean Sea hits Dacha, Turkey, but no casualties
An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit an area 145 kilometers (90 miles) from Dacha, an area in Turkey’s southwestern Mugla Province, on Monday. The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that the earthquake, which occurred at 9:38 am (6:38 am GMT) local time, was 7.3 kilometers deep in the Aegean Sea.
This was the second earthquake in two days near Dacha and no injuries or significant damage were reported in either. On Sunday, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake was felt in Dacha after it struck an area about 139 kilometers off the coast of the district.
Dacha is accustomed to tremors in the Aegean as it is located near fault lines across the sea. The largest earthquake occurred on December 26, 2021, with a magnitude of 5.5, 383 km from the region.
Turkey, a country on several active fault lines, has tightened building inspections and implemented regulations to enhance the safety of new buildings after the infamous 1999 earthquake that killed thousands in Istanbul and neighboring provinces.
In 2020, a 6.6-magnitude earthquake in Izmir, about 280 kilometers north of Dacha, killed 115 people in one of the largest earthquakes to hit the country in years.
Also in 2020, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit Datca, followed by more than 400 aftershocks. Experts say the seismic activity near Dacha stems mostly from its geographic history as an area with many volcanic islands. The volcanic islands extend from Dacha to Greece, in an area with many fault lines. Experts say some have the potential to generate earthquakes of magnitude 6.5 and above. They warn that an earthquake of this magnitude could generate tsunamis across the Aegean coasts of Turkey, a popular holiday destination and home to millions.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
