“It looked like an explosion” – the village of Perthshire was left with a 2.2 magnitude earthquake

A 2.2 earthquake rocked the community of Perthshire.

The earthquake was recorded in Comrie at 3.22 pm on Saturday.

Residents said their homes were noticeably shaken and reported a loud scream that lasted about a minute.

No major damage was caused, but one resident said she felt and looked as if a truck had collided next to her property.

The British Geological Survey said the quake was at a depth of 2 km.

The group tweeted: “A few reports were received from the residents of Comrie and Crave. The reports described “a really loud thump and a suitable light slipped” and “sounded like an explosion” and “the windows all shook”.

Anyone with an earthquake is required to submit data to BGS via an online questionnaire.
