New Delhi: A severe earthquake measuring 1.3 on the Richter scale near the national capital at 11:55 am on Sunday (7 June). The National Seismology Center said the quake was centered at a depth of 5 km, 23 km southeast of the Rohtak area in Haryana.

Earlier, two earthquakes of 4.6 and 2.9 occurred in Rohtak in Haryana on May 29.

On June 3, a moderate earthquake of 3.0 magnitude struck near Noida in the National Capital Region. The epicenter was 19 km southeast of Noida in the Gautam Bod Nagar area in western Uttar Pradesh state, Delhi.

According to some of the country’s top geologists, 10 low to moderate tremors, jolting Delhi-NCR in a month and a half period indicate that a strong earthquake could hit India’s national capital in the near future
