Cornell University report confirms earthquake resistance for SANEXEN water technology

MONTRÉAL, June 8, 2020 / PRNewswire / – On June 2, Cornell University’s College of Civil and Environmental Engineering released its report “Assessment of Earthquake Underwater Earth Deformation Water Pipeline Performance”, detailing technical findings that confirm SANEXEN Environmental Services Inc has proven that the next generation of Water technology (“SANEXEN”) withstands extreme earthquake conditions. Strict testing at the Cornell Geotechnical Life Lines Test Facility on a large scale in Ithaca, New York last December, investigated the performance of next-generation SANEXEN technology under significant ground deformation. Tests were performed on new ductile iron (DI) tubes and old cast iron (CI) tubes lined with the next generation of Aqua tubes. Test scenarios included, among other factors, axial force (tension and pressure), four-point bending, and widespread rupture of failure. All of these forces are present during seismic and other events that cause major ground distortions.

The tests conclusively confirmed that SANEXEN’s next-generation water-lined tube, with an internal water pressure of 80 psi, was able to withstand large degrees of ground deformation and sudden land rupture, and would have maintained its integrity through the most severe levels of ground deformation caused by liquefaction that It happened during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, which caused severe damage to the San Francisco water distribution system.
