Regional summary:
In the twenty-first week of 2022, the area was affected by a total of 30 disasters (24 floods, two landslides, two storms, and two wind related). Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam were reportedly affected. Heavy rains, strong winds and tides in the coastal area and flooding in rivers have caused flooding, rain-triggered landslides and wind-related events reported by *Badan Nasional* Penganggulangan Bencana (BNPB) over Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. According to *Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan*Geofisika (BMKG) M6.2 earthquake occurred 819 km SW South Nias (North Sumatra) at a depth of 10 km on 25 May and the M6.5 earthquake occurred at 85 km SW SW Maluku at a depth of 104 km on May 27. At the time of the report, the BNPB had not reported significant damage or injuries. Agensi Pengurusan Bencanna Negara (NADMA) reported that flooding occurred in Perak State and Selangor State. The Vietnam Disaster Management Authority (VNDMA) reported that storms, floods and landslides have affected northern and north-central Vietnam. Finally, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department (DDPM) reports that the southwest monsoon has caused wind storms in multiple regions of Thailand.

According to BNPB, high tides in the coastal region of North Java since May 23 have caused flooding, particularly in West and Central Java province. In total, 23 thousand families (88.4 thousand people) were affected and 2 thousand people were displaced in Cirebon City, Cirebon Regency (West Java Province), Semarang City, Tegal City, Pekalongan City, Rimbang, Demak, Tegal, Batang, Kendal, Pekalongan, and Brebes Regency (Central Java). The number of damaged homes reached 20.5 thousand homes, 5 schools, and 2 health facilities. The floods have reportedly started to recede in a few areas and people who go to work have returned to their normal conditions. Local disaster management agencies and related agencies have implemented the necessary measures and continue to monitor, collect data, assess the situation, and provide support and logistics to the affected people.
Hydro-meteorological climate:
Over the past week, data from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASMC) Meteorological Center showed a 7-day average rainfall rise across Papua in Indonesia. southern Myanmar; North Luzon, Philippines; and northern Viet Nam. As of reporting, Tropical Disturbance INVEST 93W is located approximately 225 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. INVEST 93W is generally expected to move to the northwest over the next couple of days and has a low chance of developing into a major tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours (PAGASA, JTWC).
Geophysical:
Three (3) major earthquakes (M? 5.0) have been recorded in the region by the *Meteorology and Climatology Agency of Indonesia and *the Geophysical Agency (BMKG). Mount Semeru (Alert Level Three), Ibo (Alert Level Two), Dokono (Alert Level Two) in Indonesia, Taal Volcano (Alert Level 2) and Mount Kanlaon (Alert Level 1) in the Philippines have reported recent volcanic activity according to the *Vulcanology Center and * Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

According to the Meteorological Center of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASMC), it is expected that during the next week there will be more humid conditions in the southern marine continent; Drier conditions are expected over most of the eastern half of the tropics; Cooler conditions are expected in southern mainland Southeast Asia and parts of the Philippines; Warmer conditions are expected in the southeast of the Maritime Continent. For the regional assessment of extremes, there is a moderate increase in the chance of occurrence in Southeast Maritime Continent including Sulawesi and Papua, and a slight increase in the chance in parts of Peninsular Malaysia and southern Borneo for extreme hot conditions. La Niña conditions still exist in the Pacific Ocean. In the seasonal time scale, La Niña events tend to provide wetter conditions over most of the ASEAN region. A negative dipole is likely to develop in the Indian Ocean in June. Negative IOD tends to bring wetter conditions in most of the ASEAN area.
