Despite ongoing delays in transferring funds to IRCS which hinder timely implementation, this DREF process has been extended for an additional two months, allowing the transfer of DREF funds and the continuation of planned cash distributions once funds are deposited into accounts. All other activities under DREF have been completed. The Iraqi Red Crescent Society has responded to affected people in the county and those in neighboring counties by utilizing its resources.

a. Situation Analysis

Description of the disaster

The Iranian Seismological Center reported that a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the Ghazi district near the city of Fin in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan at 15:37 local time. The affected area includes one city and 137 villages with a total population of about 9,121 families (34,394 people). The affected cities are surrounded by Hajjabad, Bandar Abbas and Rodan. 100 volunteers were deployed to the affected areas to participate in relief and rescue operations. According to Emergency Medical Services (EMS), 104 people were injured, and one person died as a result of a power pole collapse throughout the disaster. People in the affected areas were terrified and assumed they would be outside all night. Minor cracks were seen in the walls of the buildings in the villages adjacent to the epicenter, the Finn district, Sarza, and the Radwan villages. The worst affected villages are West Jishan, Ab Shirin, Zartu Bala, Payne, Rodchor, Joharah Chilu and Chakal.
