Magnitude 4.1 earthquake strikes near Bay Point in East Bay

A 4.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded near Bay Point Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The USGS said the quake occurred at 5:07 a.m. on the northern edge of Suisun Bay, about 3.7 miles northeast of Bay Point. The quake had a depth of about 19.7 miles, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake was felt from the Sacramento area to Santa Cruz, the USGS website Did You Feel It reports. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The Bay Area Express reported delays of up to 20 minutes as crews inspected tracks after the earthquake.

People felt an earthquake within the area served by BART. Trains run at low speeds while we complete track checks. Please expect 20 minutes of system-wide delays remaining.

The earthquake occurred between two faults: Concord and Pittsburgh-Kirby Hills, according to Paul Laustson of the US Geological Survey.
