Post-earthquake humanitarian crisis – OpEd – Eurasia Review

The devastation in Afghanistan was caused by the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the region. Currently, the masses in Afghanistan are going through hard times, while the Earthquake has added more misery. According to the report, more than 1,000 valuable people were lost, and a large number of injuries and property damage occurred.

The terrible earthquake hit the southeastern region of Afghanistan and the majority of casualties were reported in Paktika Province. Unfortunately, the cause of the serious problem is earthquake disturbance and around the same time heavy rain falls in different parts of Afghanistan causing floods.

Rescue operations are complicated by difficult conditions including heavy rains, landslides, and many faiths located in easily accessible hillside areas. It is noteworthy that large parts of South Asia are seismically active because the tectonic plate known as the Indian plate is pushing north into the Eurasian plate. Therefore, this is a time of great suffering, pain and hardship for the Afghan people due to these natural disasters.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the UN was fully mobilized in providing initial support while emphasizing that the time had come for solidarity with Afghans. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his condolences and offered support to the Afghan brothers, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif explained that the Pakistani people share the grief and sorrow of their Afghan brothers, and the relevant authorities are working to support Afghanistan at this difficult time.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan sent a telegram of condolence and offered support from the Government of Pakistan in the areas of relief and humanitarian assistance. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry also issued a statement of solidarity with the Afghans in this time of need.

As an immediate response, the Government of Pakistan has dispatched a package of relief materials and medicines to facilitate the effective population of the border crossing points of Ango Radha and Ghulam closest to the affected areas while further assistance is also ensured in the coming days as the extent of the damage will be evident.

Pakistan is sending trucks loaded with aid for the earthquake in Afghanistan and humanitarian aid including tents, blankets, blankets and medicine will be delivered to the Afghan authorities. The international community is also seen as being at the forefront of providing all kinds of assistance and support in Afghanistan.

Pakistan has played a vital role since then, the political change took place in Afghanistan last August. As most of the trained people who were working for the former regime left Afghanistan or left their ministries, Afghanistan in subsequent months has faced a shortage of capacity building, trade and manpower and there is Pakistan and other international communities helping Afghanistan in recent months in terms of capacity building.

In the process of providing training and capacity building to Afghan institutions in various fields. One of those institutions is the Afghan National Disaster Management Authority. It was positive that the Authority had some initial emergency preparedness. In this regard, along with the relief package, Pakistan has provided training courses and exchange of experience in cooperation with the relevant Pakistani institution the Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority.

Apart from commodity aid, medicine and other things, Pakistan is also planning to set up a field hospital that will take care of any health ailment that appears especially in the post-disaster conditions. Pakistan is also planning to rebuild the affected areas in light of the experience of managing the 2005 earthquake disaster.

The current state of hospitals and medical facilities in urban areas of Afghanistan is not up to par and facing serious problems in terms of providing adequate medical treatment to people around the affected areas. Therefore, organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Development Program and Pakistan are the closest neighbors that also focus on meeting the medical needs of the affected people. Countries in the region are seen as helping in this disaster and so on, but they need to contribute more by playing their part in regional stability.

Afghanistan is also experiencing an economic crisis, and recent floods in many areas have added difficulty to the Afghan masses. Since the US withdrawal, we have seen that there have been very few problems for the Taliban regime, there have been demands from the international community regarding the recognition of the Taliban regime. However, the Taliban regime is unable to meet these demands and reassurances that the international community demands. It is necessary for the temporary regime to transform into a government to confront the fragile situation prevailing in the country.
