Appointes Foundation donates fuel and water filters to communities affected by the 7.0 earthquake – Manila Bulletin

Baguio City – The Aboitiz Foundation, the social responsibility arm of the Aboitiz Group and Hedcor, Inc. Affiliated with Aboitiz Power, Inc., supplies fuel and water filters in areas affected by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Luzon on July 27.

A total of 1,150 liters of fuel were distributed to the municipalities of Bauko and Sapanjan in Mountain County.

Donating fuel will help clear up landslides caused by the earthquake.

“The Aboitiz Foundation has been advocating for disaster resilience for the past years. We have developed systems and strategic partnerships so that we can respond promptly to such disasters,” said Maribeth Marasigan, President and COO of the Aboitiz Foundation.

“We are pleased that our friends from the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) were able to assist us in providing immediate assistance to the affected areas in Abra. We also commend Hedcor for its prompt response in providing the needed assistance in Benguet and Jebel Province,” added Marasigan.

Meanwhile, water filters were distributed in 175 affected districts and five municipalities in Abra, Manabo, Langangelang, Sal Abadan, Tium and Dolores.

A portable water purification system is the easiest way for communities to get clean drinking water.

These filters can treat all types of fresh water such as rain water, spring water, water from deep wells and even flood water.

With a lifespan of five to ten years, the filters can provide clean water to five to ten households, saving each household thousands of pesos annually on mineral water.

“The Abu Citizen Foundation has always been a leader when it comes to helping the Filipino people,” said Renee Melli, President of the Abu Citizen Foundation.

They direct their resources for good in many emergency situations. “The Philippines is a better place because of their efforts,” Milley added.

Through the Disaster Resilience Program, the Abu Citizen Foundation has provided immediate assistance amounting to more than 600,000 pesos to earthquake-affected areas of Benguet, Mount Te County, and Ibra.
