About 2,250 people were killed and about 12,800 were injured in the earthquake that struck the southern peninsula of Haiti on August 14, 2021. Thousands of homes, schools and hospitals as well as key infrastructure such as roads and bridges were damaged or destroyed.

Of the 500,000 people targeted by the government with support from the United Nations and local partners, at least 484,000, or nearly 97%, received some form of assistance.
