Mexico earthquake kills at least two people

A powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Mexico early Thursday morning, killing at least two people, destroying buildings and causing landslides.

The earthquake occurred at 1:19 am near the epicenter of a 7.6-magnitude earthquake three days ago in the western state of Michoacan. She was also blamed for the deaths of two people.

Thursday’s quake, like Monday’s, had its epicenter in the western state of Michoacan near the Pacific coast, the US Geological Survey said. The epicenter of the earthquake was 46 km south-southwest of Aguila, Michoacan state, at a depth of about 24.1 km.

The Michoacan state government said the quake was felt throughout the state, but it did not immediately report damage.

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said via Twitter that the quake was a follow-up to Monday’s quake and was also felt in the states of Colima, Jalisco and Guerrero. The president said there were no immediate reports of damage.
