KATHMANDU: Programs to celebrate the 25th National Earthquake Safety Day scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed following the plane crash in Pokhara this morning.

The day is celebrated on Magh 2 of the lunar calendar every year in memory of the massive earthquake that occurred in 1990 BS and thus to spread awareness about earthquake safety methods.

Since the government of Nepal decided to give a public holiday on Monday to mourn the fatal crash of Yeti Airlines ATR-72 in Pokhara, a program that was supposed to take place in Kathmandu in the presence of the Chief Minister and Minister of Home Affairs among others has been postponed, according to the statement. He was informed by Surya Narayan Shrestha, executive director of the National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET).

NSET said that other events related to the day such as a photo exhibition, rally, awareness campaign, etc. will be organized within a week.
