A 3.5-magnitude earthquake hits Kutch, Gujarat, the day before Cyclone Pebarjoy hits

By India News Desk Today: A 3.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Kutch district of Gujarat state on Wednesday. People felt tremors a day before the expected arrival of Cyclone Pebargui in Kutch on Thursday.

According to the Earthquake Research Institute, Gandhinagar, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 5 km west-southwest of Bachau in Kutch district. The quake occurred at 5:05 pm on Wednesday. The epicenter was 5 km west-southwest of Bhachau in Kutch at latitude 23.291 and longitude 70.293.

Red alert in Gujarat before the fall of Pebargui

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Saurashtra, Dwarka and Kutch coasts in Gujarat in view of extremely severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy. The tornado is expected to cause severe damage and a heavy rain warning has been issued for several states.

About 50,000 people living near the sea in eight districts of Gujarat state were evacuated as the cyclone barreled towards the Kutch coast.

Eighteen NDRF teams are stationed in Gujarat to conduct relief and rescue operations, with four NDRF teams deployed in Kutch district, three each in Rajkot and Devbhumi Dwarka, two in Jamnagar and one each in Porbandar, Junagarh, Gir Somnath, Morbi and Valsad. , and Gandhinagar.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said he had spoken to the three service chiefs and reviewed the armed forces’ preparations to deal with the impact of the cyclone.
