A 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit the Babuyan Islands in the northern Philippines on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.

The US Geological Survey said the quake occurred at a depth of 34 kilometres.

The Philippine government’s seismological agency said it expected aftershocks, but there was no damage from the marine quake.
