A 6.3-magnitude earthquake hits the coast of central Mexico

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit the coast of central Mexico, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said on Monday.

The earthquake occurred at 2 am on Monday. According to the National Statistics Center, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The US Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami risk on the US West Coast, British Columbia or Alaska after the quake.

The earthquake department said a 4.5-magnitude earthquake jolted the union territory of Ladakh on Saturday. There were no reports of injuries.

According to the National Center for Seismology, people felt the earthquake at 9.44 pm, and its epicenter was 271 kilometers northeast of Leh.

The depth of the quake was 10 kilometers below the surface, at 35.74 degrees north latitude and 79.84 degrees east longitude.

Last week, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake occurred near Tonga in the South Pacific Ocean on June 16.

The epicenter was about 280 kilometers (174 miles) southwest of Tonga, at a depth of 167.4 kilometers (104 miles), according to the USGS.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) initially reported a 7-magnitude earthquake near the southern region of the Fiji Islands.
