UNFPA Earthquake Recovery and Resilience Presentation in Turkey – Turkey
attachments
introduction
The massive earthquakes that struck eastern Turkey on February 6, 2023 directly affected about 9.1 million people in 11 provinces covering an area of about 350,000 square kilometers (140,000 sq mi). As a result of the earthquakes, official reports indicated that more than 50,000 people were killed, and approximately 280,000 buildings collapsed or were severely damaged. Millions have been hit hard by the massive loss of livelihoods and assets. An estimated 14 million people, or 16 percent of Turkey’s population, live in the earthquake-affected provinces, as well as some 1.7 million refugees. 9.1 million people were directly affected by the earthquakes and 3 million people had to move from their homes. 1.6 million people are sheltering in informal settings, half of them women and girls.
After the immediate response covered by the UN-led Flash Earthquake Appeal, the scale of needs remains critical, particularly for the most vulnerable. In the aftermath of such disasters, women and girls are often denied the ability to take charge of their bodies, lives and futures. In the aftermath of this crisis, gender inequality has endangered the health and well-being of women and girls. According to the Turkey Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Assessment (TERRA) report, women and girls continue to face particular challenges in accessing basic services and vital relief items, to staying safe and covering their basic needs of adequate shelter, hygiene, sanitation, health care and protection. Pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as single women, including single mothers and those with disabilities or from rural areas, are more vulnerable to these challenges.
UNFPA is now appealing to donors to support recovery and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable groups, particularly women and girls. Ensuring the availability and accessibility of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services and commodities and increasing the effectiveness of GBV prevention and mitigation measures is critical to ensuring the rights, safety and dignity of women, girls and allied groups. 2 Throughout the earthquake-affected provinces, as well as in the provinces where earthquake-displaced people live.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
