Escape from Gaza: Tala and Yazid reach safety in Egypt | BBC News

Israel is under international pressure to abandon plans for an all-out assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where some 1.4 million people have taken refuge. Rafah is close to the Egyptian border but the crossing there is closed, preventing people from fleeing to safety. BBC News follows the story of a young woman – Tala Abu Nahleh – and her disabled brother Yazid. They tried to escape from Rafah several times, but were repeatedly turned back at the border.
