Erdogan thanks Ilham Aliyev for support in fighting Turkey’s forest fires
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his sincere gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s crucial assistance in combating the devastating forest fires that have ravaged Turkey.
According to Ednews, Speaking after a meeting of the Turkish Cabinet of Ministers, Erdogan acknowledged the significant impact of Azerbaijan’s support, saying: “On his instructions, a plane was sent to Turkey to extinguish the fires. With the help of this plane, we extinguished the fires very effectively.”
The Turkish leader highlighted the alarming increase in wildfires this year, with their number more than doubling to 5,540. In response to this crisis, Turkey has deployed a wide range of resources, including 27 aircraft, 105 helicopters and more than 5,000 units of ground equipment. Erdogan stressed the government’s commitment to fighting the fires, with relevant ministers constantly present on site and providing regular updates.
Azerbaijan’s prompt response to Turkey’s call for help came in the form of the BE-200ChS amphibious aircraft, sent by the air detachment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the orders of President Ilham Aliyev. This advanced aircraft actively extinguished forest fires in the Usak-Esme region of western Turkey.
