Josef Paintsil and Dejan Juveljic each had a goal and an assist to lead the Galaxy to a 3-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.

Paintsil scored in the 18th minute when he fired a shot with his left foot past goalkeeper Daniel de Souza Brito in the far left corner of the goal.

Juvelgic scored in the 43rd minute when he shot with his right foot from outside the six-yard area after a cross pass from Bentsil in a counterattack. Riqui Puig scored in the 48th minute after a perfect pass from Jovelic to the midfield.

John McCarthy made two saves for the Galaxy (1-0-1), who won 2-0-1 against the Earthquakes last season.

Former Galaxy player Preston Goode scored in the 69th minute for San Jose (0-2-0). Daniel made three saves.

This was the 99th meeting in all competitions between the two teams in Cali Clásico. The Galaxy leads the all-time series 47-33-19.

The Galaxy will play its next match in Nashville on March 10.
