Over 40 Assam police donate plasma to help fight crisis COVID-19- New Indian Express
GUWAHATI: Responding to the Assam government call, 43 police officers who have already recovered from COVID-19 came forward and donated their plasma.
Assam police, in collaboration with the State Department of Health, organized a plasma donation camp in Guwahati where 67 police officers were registered. After due diligence, 43 of them were found to be right. Later, everyone donated their plasma.
Recognizing their service to humanity, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Bhaskar Police Chief Jyoti Mahanta and others supported them. Sarma talked a lot to Assam Police about leading the fight against COVID-19 from the front.

He said Assam Police had also set an example by distributing medicines to the needy during the closure and taking care of the well-being of elderly citizens living alone.
Mahanta said it was a moment of pride for the police organization. “The example set by the police will not only boost the morale of those from the organization who are still under treatment, but will also give a ray of hope to the people of the state,” he said.
Last month, Sarma had said that plasma therapy was found to be most effective for Covid-19 patients. While making an appeal to recovered persons to donate their plasma, he had said that such people would receive preferential treatment at job interviews and government facilities in the future.
“Observations in the United States and India are that plasma therapy has no adverse effects and 90 percent of patients recover if plasma can be given in a moderate state of a person’s disease.
