80,000 fans jump at Travis Scott concert in Milan, sparking earthquake fears

As some 80,000 jubilant fans danced to Travis Scott's concert, many in Milan took to social media to post questions about whether there was an earthquake.

MILAN, Italy — The ground mysteriously shook Tuesday night in Milan, sparking fears of an earthquake, but it turned out it was just rowdy fans in Italy listening to a Travis Scott concert.

Social media in the Milan area reported that residents felt earthquakes on Tuesday evening, but no earthquakes were recorded at Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, according to the Italian news site Il Messaggero.

But other social media posts by concertgoers and even Scott himself have pointed to a more likely source of the tremor: a celebratory scene with 80,000 fans jumping to the beat as Scott performed at Milan's La Maura outdoor hippodrome, as part of his Circus Maximus tour.

“Last night was a dream,” Scott posted on Instagram, recapturing highlights from the concert. “All 80,000 of you gave us the best time ever.”

Il Messaggero points out that this is not the first time that loud concerts have been confused with earthquakes in Italy, as a similar concert last June sparked earthquake wonders – and even Scott's performance last August in Rome.
