In response to a warning called “Megathrust Earthquake Attention” issued on Thursday, the country's transportation remains on alert on Saturday.

The Tokaido Shinkansen line has reduced its maximum speed from 285 km/h to 230 km/h between Mishima Station in Shizuoka Prefecture and Mikawa-Anjo Station in Aichi Prefecture, with delays of more than 10 minutes expected, the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Tokai) said.

The number of trains operating during the Bonn holiday period is high and delays may increase. JR Tokai will change or refund reservations without charge upon request of passengers.
