Hundreds of members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah have reportedly been injured after the hand-held pages they use to communicate exploded. The Lebanese news agency said the explosions occurred in the southern suburbs of Beirut and several other areas. Hezbollah's al-Manar TV also said many pages were blown up, without identifying the wounded. Videos and photos on social media showed injured men sitting or lying on the ground and others being taken to hospitals. Unconfirmed CCTV footage showed explosions at shops. A Hezbollah official told the Reuters news agency that it was the “biggest security breach to date” since hostilities with Israel escalated in parallel with the Gaza war 11 months ago. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military, although the incident made the Israeli security cabinet's official war objective the safe return of 60,000 residents displaced by Hezbollah attacks in the north.
