Five women who previously worked for Mohamed Al Fayed, the former owner of luxury department store Harrods, have told BBC Breakfast their stories of abuse. A BBC investigation revealed decades of serious sexual abuse against Al Fayed, who died last year aged 94. One of his accusers said women who worked at Harrods were like “lambs to the slaughter” during the years Al Fayed was able to use him. London department stores to abuse at will. Lindsay was one of five women who shared their story, discussing the night she says she was drugged and attempted rape during a work trip to Paris. Women who say they underwent “intrusive” medical examinations while working at Harrods are also making a complaint about a doctor to the regulator. A spokesman for the General Medical Council said the allegations about medical staff were “deeply concerning”. Harrods has reached financial settlements with the most people who have come to it since 2023, and this week it had new inquiries. The company is accepting vicarious liability for Fayed's actions, and there is no settlement or disclosure agreement attached.
