Catanduanes was hit by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake, and aftershocks are expected

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck Bagamanoc, Catanduanes at 5:19 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

MANILA, Philippines – A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the town of Bagamanoc in Catanduanes early Wednesday morning, where aftershocks are expected, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

East of Bagamok in Catanduanes is where the epicenter of the tectonic quake was located, which occurred at 5:19 a.m., Phivolcs said in its seismology bulletin.

The depth of the earthquake reached 38 km.

The intensity has been raised by state seismologists in Erocin, Sorsogon.

First intensity: Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte; Claveria, Masbate; Bulusan, Sorsogon; And Gandara, Samar
