Nearby factories include TSMC's Fab8, Fab14 and Fab18 and UMC's Fab12A in Tainan, as well as TSMC Fab15 in Taichung.

According to TSMC, the largest earthquake ever recorded at its factories in the Science Park in southern Taiwan was a Level 5, while the Central Science Park in Taiwan recorded a Level 4 tremor.
