President Lai visits Tainan after the 6.4 magnitude earthquake

Tainan, Jan. 25 (CNA) President Lai Ching-tei promised government support and relief for those affected by the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck southern Taiwan earlier this week during his visit to Tainan on Saturday.

After the April 2024 earthquake in Hualien City, which killed 16 people and injured 1,555 others, the government provided emergency relief, repair and reconstruction subsidies, loan subsidies and interest to affected individuals and businesses, the Cabinet said in a report in May.
