Erdogan: We revive the seismic area in solidarity

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan highlighted efforts to recover the government on the second anniversary of the devastating earthquakes that struck southern Torke.

“We are truly proud to revive the region with the solidarity of our state and our nation,” Erdogan said on February 6 at an event in Adaman, one of the cities that the earthquake struck.

Erdogan explained the government's response to the disaster, noting that the state “mobilized all its resources” from the moment that the earthquake struck, and sends 650,000 employees to this field.

“We worked day and night, tirelessly, with patience and firmness … everyone gathered as one,” he said.

“We will continue to stand by our brothers in the earthquake area with all our units and resources.”

The President has highlighted investments in the region since the disaster, including more than 2.6 trillion Turkish Turkish in the past two years. He remembers that 584 billion Leeras has been allocated for further recovery efforts.

He referred to infrastructure developments, such as housing renewal, drinking water and wastewater.

The construction of 110 health facilities has been completed, and 34 field hospitals and 176 emergency response units have been established.

Erdogan also detailed continuous construction projects, including 13 courts, 10 penal institutions and the forensic clinic. In the education sector, 524 schools have been completed, with 1,241 additional schools built to increase the semester capacity by 10 percent.

The president has informed that the 336 -km connection and the division of areas began to build, and the orbit of Hatay Airport is under development.

In addition, 15 industrial zones have received 14 billion Leeras Industrialization Organization, with 34 artificial regions for recovery.

Erdogan said that the budget of 3 billion Lira was allocated to rebuild industrial institutions, while 1116 investments in the region will create job opportunities for more than 50,000 people.

He added that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism carried out maintenance and reform work on 12 CEMEVIS.

Twin earthquakes on February 6, 2023, measuring sizes of 7.8 and 7.5, hit southern Tarkayi and northern Syria. They have killed more than 53,000 people in Torke and more than 8,000 in Syria.

The earthquakes were the bloodiest to hit the area for two decades. The 7.8 earthquake struck near KahramanMaraş in the first hours, followed by the second powerful tremor in the north later that day.

The destruction spanned 11 Turkish provinces, including Hatay, Gaziantest and Malatia, and was severely affected by the Syrian regions such as Aleppo and Idlib.

In the early hours of the day, Erdogan celebrated the victims in a post on X.
