A huge earthquake of 7.7 people killed at least 1650 people in Myanmar and Thailand, leaving the area to reel while rescuers choose through vast piles of rubble to find missing people.

Thousands of their buildings came out of scenes of panic and chaos after the earthquake was almost hit in the middle of Friday, causing the collapse of many structures in one of the worst earthquakes in the region.

The size of the damage in Myanmar, which recorded 1644 deaths and 2,376 devastating injuries. Religious buildings, roads, hospitals and bridges collapsed, with the United Nations Humanitarian Agency warning on Saturday that they were struggling to help in needy areas due to the damage to Myanmar's infrastructure.

In Bangkok, rescue efforts continued for dozens of missing persons on their second day, after a skyscraper collapsed in construction in a large column of dust when the spectators shouted and ran from the site. On Saturday, the Bangkok authorities reviewed the number of deaths from 10 to six, while 26 people and 47 others were missing in the locations throughout the city.

As the rescuers continue to work to save people trapped under the rubble, here is a look at how and why the earthquake happened in Myanmar.

What happened and why?

At approximately 6 am GMT, a huge earthquake was recorded in central Myanmar.

The earthquake, which was a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km) and focused on about 10.3 miles (17 km) of the second largest city in Mandalay, Myanmar, was followed by defeating a strong scourge of 6.4 compulsive.

Earthquakes are hit when tectonic panels are rubbed, large rocks that form the Earth's crust against each other. Usgs says that the Myanmar earthquake occurred due to the “sliding strikes” between the panels of India and Eurasia – which is on top.

Is earthquake common in Myanmar?

Myanmar sits on the border between two tectonic plates, one of the most active countries in the world.

But the earthquakes of this size are rare in the epic area, which is severely affected.

“The boundaries of the painting between the India and Borrasia plate are a plate that passes almost north in the south, and it is abandoned by the middle of the country,” said Joanna Four Walker, a professor and an earthquake at College University London.

The paintings move across each other horizontally at different speeds. Although this causes an “undistantly” “slip” earthquake like those seen in “integration areas”, they still have the ability to reach sizes of 7 to 8.

Why was the earthquake very harmful?

While SAGAING has been subjected to many earthquakes in recent years, including an earthquake of 6.8 clowns killing at least 26 in 2012, it happened on Friday, “Perhaps the Great” that struck the mainland in Myanmar 75 years ago, according to UCL McGuer's earthquake expert.

Roger Rogeron Roger Rogenson said the shallow depth of the earthquake means that the damage will be a well -known researcher in British geological survey.

“This is very harmful because it happened at a shallow depth, and therefore the shock waves are not paved because they are transmitted from the concentration of the earthquake to the surface. The buildings received the full power of shaking.

“It is important not to focus on volcano compounds because seismic waves are not radiated from the epicenter – they radiate from the full line of error,” he added.

Was Myanmar ready?

Deaths can range between 10,000 and 100,000 people, a USGS risk program said using the size and location of Myanmar and the general earthquake preparation.

The infrastructure of earthquakes has not been widely built in the epic area due to the relative scarcity of major seismic events – which means that the damage may be catastrophic.

Mr. Moses said that the last major earthquake hit the area was in 1956, and it is unlikely that the homes were built to carry strong seismic forces such as those that were struck on Friday.

“Most seismic in Myanmar is further to the West, while this is running in the center of the country,” he said.
