The earthquake strike near the Pacific Island of Tonga, days after the Mitanmar earthquake

A large earthquake, Tonga, a quotient in the South Pacific, which includes about 170 islands.

The American Geological Survey estimated that the 7.0 -size earthquake has hit nearly 60 miles northeast of the main island, Tongatabo, where the capital is Nuku'alofa, and about 50 miles southeast of a different island in the archipelago called Pangai. Early notes suggested from USGs that parts of Tongatapu and Pangai have been subjected to light or moderate as a result of the earthquake.

No damage or injuries has been reported yet. The earthquake occurred at 1:18 am local time – technically early Monday morning – which led to a tsunami warning that advised people in the threat area to abandon the upper land or take a shelter inside the steel or concrete buildings, or specific tsunami evacuation sites, according to meteorological services. The Honollo Pacific Warning Center, Hawaii, also issued a cautious alert of possible, possible waves associated with the earthquake, but the center has since said that the tsunami threat had passed.

Lita Vetta, the facilitator of meteorology services, said that the agency was closely monitoring sea levels, but she did not discover a serious activity after several hours of the earthquake, according to the local news site Talanoa O Tonga.
