Venezuela earthquake updates for June 26, 2026

Interim President Delcy Rodriguez said in a televised message that UN-certified rescuers will help search for earthquake survivors.

Spain and France were sending dozens of specialists, and Germany promised six military transport aircraft.

Switzerland has mobilized 80 personnel, eight rescue dogs, and 18 tons of equipment to be sent to Venezuela as soon as possible.

Dutch Foreign Trade Minister Sjoerd Sjoersma announced an aid package worth two million euros to deploy a search and rescue team, while the Czech Republic said its team was preparing to travel by air.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said it had allocated $2.5 million to support recovery efforts.

The Vatican announced that Pope Leo XIV sent “initial” emergency aid worth 100,000 euros ($114,000) to Venezuela.

The United States said it would deploy two warships, transport planes, and helicopters, and mobilized aid worth $150 million.

China said it is “ready to provide whatever assistance it can in an appropriate manner according to the needs of the Venezuelan side,” according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiaqun.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei expressed “Iran’s readiness to provide any assistance required in relief and rescue operations.”

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced the sending of a field hospital to Venezuela, in addition to 36 firefighters and several rescue and communications specialists via two flights on Friday and Saturday.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that her country will send a military team of rescuers and medical workers to Venezuela and will send more assistance if necessary.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said Cuban health workers “have been fully mobilized and are providing medical services to the affected population.”

Chilean President José Antonio Caste said he was sending humanitarian aid and rescue teams to Venezuela.

Colombia’s disaster management agency, which also felt the quake, said it would send more than 60 rescuers and 12 tons of humanitarian aid to its neighbour.

Argentina, Costa Rica and Uruguay also expressed their solidarity, while Ecuador and the Dominican Republic said they were preparing to send aid.
