Oren Smadja is resigned as a coach of the national team

Orine Smadeja, a pivotal figure in the Israeli judo, announced his resignation on Monday after 15 years as a main coach of the national team for men. The owner of the 1992 Olympic medal was martyred by the constant respect of senior officials of the Israeli Judo Association as a reason for his departure.

“With a heavy heart, after years of working as a major coach for the Judo team in Israel, I had to submit my resignation,” Sumadja said in a statement. “Judo is my life, but I could no longer continue. I never imagined that I would say this, but I am raising my hand in surrender.”

SMADJA expressed his deep concern for the future of the Israeli judo, saying that his resignation was aimed at provoking a comprehensive examination of sports leadership. He added: “I have endured years of ill -treatment to protect athletes, but my silence only worsened the situation. Today, I say enough.”

The Judo Israel Association replied: “We have received the resignation of sorrow and regret. We have no intention of engaging in a conflict with a bereaved father, despite the inaccuracy in his statements. He was a broker and will always remain a central figure in a proud legacy in the Israeli judo.”

SMADJA resignation follows the performance of the disappointing men's team in the European Championship in Montenegro, where they won only one victory – the poorest of them in the history of the competition.
