The World Health Assembly accepts a historical pandemic agreement to make the world a more righteous and safer than future pandemic

• The adoption of the agreement follows three years of intense negotiations initiated due to the gaps and inequalities established in the national and global response of the COIDD-19.
• The agreement increases global cooperation to ensure a stronger, fairer response to future pandemic.

Member States of the World Health Organization (WHO) has officially adopted consensus first in the world today Pandemic agreement. The tagged decision of the seventy-eighth health assembly culminates in more than three years of intense negotiations that have launched the Governments in response to the devastating effects of the Coid-19 pandemia and encouraged by the aim of making the world more confident in response to future pandemics.

The World Health Assembly is obliged to the historical increase in the estimated contributions (membership fees), approves the budget for the basic program for 2026-2027 of $ 4.2 billion

Envoy in the seventy -eighth Eighth Health Assembly (WHA78) approved the Basni Budget of $ 4.2 billion for $ 2026-2027, the first to be fully developed on the basis of the fourteenth general work program, 2025–2028 (GPW 14), a global healthcare strategy for the next four years. GPW 14 gives priority to improving health and strengthening resistance to health systems.

The budget presented to the WHI78 Committee was reduced from the initial $ 5.3 billion presented to the Executive Committee in February with regard to the challenging financial context. While reducing some regional budgets and headquarters, Member States agreed to try to preserve the budgets at the country level to the extent that it was. The budget will assign the resources to improve technical cooperation, encourage partnerships and support the achievement of national and global health goals. The proposed 2026-2027 program budget also confirms the necessary role of multilateralism in resolving today's complex and interconnected health challenges.

Member States also approved a gradual second 20% increase in the estimated contributions (AC) or membership fee previously adopted by the Working Group for Sustainable Financing of the Member State. This ensures that WHO funding is not only predictable, but also resistant and flexible, which is crucial given the rapidly changing financial landscape.

Member States also had the opportunity to review the implementation of the management reform. At the time of geopolitical tension and growing inequality, which remains a vital platform for cooperation, solidarity and coordination in global health

World leaders have advocated a significant contribution to WHO on Tuesday night at a high level, another key step in the WHO trip to sustainable funding.

High -level segment and awards General Director

During the high level segment, the delegates were heard from João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President Angola and the President of the African Union; He Andrej Plenkovic, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia; And on Liu Guozhong, Vice Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China. Video statements have been given by numerous world leaders around the world.

Egyptian opera singer Farrah El-Dibany and soprano singers of Elaine Vidal and Eunice Miller of the Philippines were performed on Tuesday morning at the Health Assembly.

The Director General also presented Global Health Leader awards to Professor Sir Brian Greenwood and Professor Awa Marie Coll Seck for his central work in the control of malaria and beyond.

The Assembly began on Monday, May 19, 2025. On the theme “One World for Health”.
