Several Walt Disney World attractions were temporarily no longer available Monday afternoon after Central Florida residents felt a rare earthquake near Cuba.

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom noticed that a number of popular attractions suddenly went offline, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tian’s Bayou Adventure, TRON Lightcycle Run, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and The Barnstormer, according to Disney BlogMickey.

The closure of the attractions came shortly after tremors were felt throughout the resort around 2 p.m., according to the blog.

Some rides later reopened throughout the afternoon.

These included the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain and TRON Lightcycle Run, while others remained temporarily unavailable for longer.

It was not immediately clear whether the flight closures were directly related to the earthquake or were part of standard operating procedures.

Officials said there was no tsunami threat linked to the quake.

Fox Weather reported that the earthquake was unusual for the region and was the strongest earthquake recorded within the waters of the Gulf since 1959.

The ride outages quickly became a topic of discussion among Disney fans online.

Others speculated that Disney was conducting precautionary safety checks before reopening the attractions.

One Disney fan noted that a cautious approach makes sense given the unusual circumstances.
