Today's earthquake: Philippine seismologists said that a new marine earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 struck the same area in the southern Philippines that was struck by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 on Friday morning.

He added that the intense shaking caused cracks in several buildings, including a high school, where about 50 students were taken to the hospital by ambulance after sustaining bruises.

No injuries or serious damage were reported, although PHIVOLCS warned of possible aftershocks in the seismically active area.
