A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan and tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on Friday, and residents felt earthquakes in several parts of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers near the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan at around 5.45 pm on Friday.

However, there were no immediate reports of any property damage, injuries or loss of life, as people live in fear, and bad memories of last month's devastating earthquake are still fresh in people's minds.

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck southeast Afghanistan on September 4, the third earthquake to hit the same region within four days, when one of the country's deadliest earthquakes in years killed more than 2,200 people.

In the catastrophic earthquake that occurred last month, entire villages were leveled, and people were trapped under the rubble of homes built mostly of mud brick and wood, unable to withstand the shock.
