SEATTLE — A grand slam by Geno Suarez in the bottom of the eighth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays sent T-Mobile Park into an uncontrollable frenzy.

“It's great to be in this park tonight with these fans,” John Goodwin said after the game on Friday. “I've never heard T-Mobile Park so loud, it's so cool, man,” he said.

She explains that the data, which actually measures gravity, roughly translates to a 2.5-magnitude earthquake, “maybe a 3.0,” if you're really among the jumping fans.

“When you already have tens of thousands of people jumping up and down, running, it adds up.” says Resuch. “It's coherent noise and the seismometer really picks that up.”

The seismograph is a small, very sensitive device mounted just behind home plate, along the third base side.

It was placed right before the winner-takes-all ALDS Game 5 against the Detroit Tigers. That night, Jorge Polanco won the game over the Mariners in the 15th inning with an RBI single.

T-Mobile Park entered into a state of euphoria, as the team advanced to the ALCS for the first time since 2001.

However, Geno's grand slam that put the Blue Jays on the ice Friday registered three times higher in activity than Polanco's walkout. It only adds to the tradition of the grand slam as the most powerful in franchise history.
