This is after the Senate voted to introduce a temporary funding bill last night. The chamber is scheduled to make amendments to it today. The agreement is a compromise between centrist Democrats and Republicans. It does not extend until Obamacare benefits expire — many Democrats opposed it. Republicans agree to vote on support by early next month. The bill funds a large portion of the government through January. The broader deal includes longer provisions related to military construction, Veterans Affairs — the legislative branch — and agriculture. The plan will be funded unexpectedly during September. For federal workers – the agreement guarantees payment of shutdown benefits. It reverses recent mass dismissals — and prohibits more this fiscal year.
