UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said Peter Mandelson should not be a member of the House of Lords because of his links to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The Prime Minister has ordered an “urgent” inquiry into Lord Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein while a government minister, No 10 has said. Emails released in the US on Friday suggest that Mandelson passed on domestic government information to Epstein in 2009 when he was the UK’s business secretary. Mandelson resigned from Starmer’s Labor Party on Sunday night, saying he wanted to spare the party “further embarrassment”. The documents also show Epstein paid her $75,000 in three transactions in 2003 and 2004 – Mandelson said he has no records of the payments and believes they are “bogus”, but said he would investigate. Separate emails released on Friday also suggest Epstein invited Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to dinner with a 26-year-old Russian woman. Several of the girls mentioned in the Epstein files are Russian. The emails do not indicate any wrongdoing and the BBC has contacted Mountbatten-Windsor for a response. He has repeatedly denied all allegations of wrongdoing related to Epstein.
