Former police chief says Trump told him in 2006 that ‘everybody’ knew about Epstein’s behavior | BBC News

A former Florida police chief said he received a call from Donald Trump in 2006 in which the now-president told him “everyone” knows about Jeffrey Epstein’s behavior, according to an FBI document released by the Justice Department. The document is a transcript of a 2019 FBI interview with the former Palm Beach police chief, who Trump alleges called after the department launched an investigation into Epstein and said, “Thank you for stopping it, everybody knows he’s doing it.” The officer’s name is redacted, but the document identifies the subject of the interview as Palm Beach’s police chief at the time of the Epstein investigation. That was Michael Reiter, who told the Miami Herald he got Trump’s call. The president has consistently denied any wrongdoing with Epstein and said he was unaware of his crimes.
