CHICAGO — Remember the ripple effect Nick Saban had on college football when he announced his retirement? There could be something in college hoops that will make Dusty May the center of attention, after Michigan beat Tennessee 95-62 to advance to the Final Four.

As we head into a Final Four showdown between Arizona and Michigan inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday, we may be on the cusp of seeing another earthquake within the sport.

There has been a lot of chatter among those within the coaching community that Bill Self might end up retiring, which would open up the possibility of a Kansas job that would force some coaches to start making tough decisions.

But there may be a scenario where it all blows up in basketball.

Let’s say Billy Donovan leaves the Chicago Bulls for the North Carolina State job, which multiple sources have told OutKick is a real possibility for the former Florida Gators head coach. This could lead to the Bulls making a run at Dusty May, or at least gauging his interest in making the jump, especially if he wins a national championship.

After coaching his team against Tennessee on Sunday afternoon, Dusty May will have options if he is considering leaving Ann Arbor.

Would a potential opening at Kansas trump bringing him back with the Wolverines? I’m just pointing out some scenarios that could happen here, so don’t destroy the messenger.

What about the Chicago Bulls, if Billy Donovan takes the North Carolina job?

I’m just saying, there could be options open that no one has talked out loud about, outside of a college basketball team.

One has to seriously wonder which job would be better. Could next weekend’s Final Four between Michigan and Arizona serve as a warning of potential insanity in the coaching ranks?

There’s also a scenario that Josh Schertz, who turned down the NC State job on Sunday, could then become a potential candidate for other jobs that might open up over the next 10 days or so. The St. Louis coach doesn’t just turn down an opportunity in the ACC if his representatives don’t think there’s something else that could open up down the line that might be more interesting.

He might risk another season in St. Louis because of the chances of another huge job opening.

In fact, the only thing Michigan has to worry about moving forward is how much money can they raise from an outside standpoint of nothing so the Wolverines can get this going again? We know they have money, but the main question is how much they are willing to spend on basketball.

No, I’m not saying they’re not doing enough right now, but we all know that netting down is the only real satisfaction outside donors get from their investments. Just ask Kentucky fans.

What is the most attractive job? If Kansas opens, it could certainly give Dusty May something to think about once the Wolverines’ trip to Indianapolis is over.

We’ve seen a huge domino fall in the past that created chaos within college athletics, and that was Nick Saban’s withdrawal.

I know people are interested in opening in North Carolina. But maybe we should look towards Kansas where the extra craziness is already happening.

I don’t think anyone should worry about these two teams faltering next weekend.

The fact of the matter is that both the Wildcats and Wolverines have been two of the best teams in college basketball this season, and their recent performances in the Elite Eight only prove that point.

After defeating Purdue on Saturday night in resounding fashion, there are those who would say the national semifinal is a national championship-caliber game that should actually crown the champion.

Until you see Michigan’s Jaxel Lindborg play in person, it’s really hard to understand just how good this young man is, as he scored 27 points against Tennessee on Sunday.

Can you imagine the view we will get from the Yaxel Lendeborg vs. Koa Peat match? What about Jaden Bradley vs. Elliot Cado?

The potential opportunities for entertainment are endless, although I would expect nothing less from two of the best programs in the country.

Forget all the hype about this being the best team. In the semi-finals we will find out which team deserves the positive argument.

I think it’s fair to say that the basketball gods decided to give us a game worthy of a Final Four.
